LET THE RED WINE SEASON BEGIN

This time of year, I put away the Sauvignon Blanc, which it seems I intravenously imbibe all summer, and uncork luscious bottles of red wine--my all-time favorite-- for fall. There’s nothing like a big juicy hearty pour of cabernet or zinfandel. In fact, I just hung up the phone with Priest Ranch Winery in Yountville to add a few more bottles of cabernet to my wine club shipment arriving in the next two weeks. If you have not had it, Priest Ranch is fantastic! I first learned about it at Bin 36 in Chicago, when owner Enoch Sully invited me to the private wine tasting room to discover this wine. Bin 36 brings back so many wonderful memories as they had many fall wine tastings and events.

Fall is a great time to discover fun food and wine festivals in your town. Lest we not forget Oktoberfest! I am looking forward to partaking in the Lincoln Park Wine Festival. Be sure to check out what is happening in your area. It is a great way to begin your journey with discovering new wines and food. Also, consider traveling to another city for a weekend jaunt to participate and see what other cities have to offer. You may decide to make it an annual tradition for a fall getaway.
