Meet Glo

I am a wife, sister, aunt, dog mom, and attorney, who has a passion for really good food and wine.  I create and perfect food concepts with my culinary expertise and wine tasting experiences I have gained during my lifetime.  I love to travel, enjoy the best restaurants, and learning about the culture of food.  There's nothing better than a good meal shared with family and friends.

Glo's
Story

Welcome to Wine & Dine with Glo.  This website is for me to share my passion for delish food, wine and champys with you. I have designed it as a learning tool for you to learn how to cook great food, enjoy fantastic libations and simply enjoy life! In the best and worst of times, sharing and enjoying a meal is one thing that brings us all together.  Food has always been the connector with family, friends, and even strangers.

I grew up in the kitchen cooking with my family and I was fortunate because great cooks surrounded me:  my mother, grandmother and aunt.   I sat on the sidelines and soaked up infinite wisdom when they had no idea I was watching. From my grandmother’s melt in the mouth yeast rolls, my aunt’s and apple and pear pies, and just about everything wonderful that my dear mother made.

Sitting in the kitchen at 58th and Indiana, where my grandmother lived, provided lessons that can’t be taught in a cooking class.  Being raised at my childhood home at 79th and Crandon, where my mother cooked up scrump delicious meals like her yummy chili, beef stroganoff, turkey tetrazzini (my favorite when I came home from college) and even liver and onions, that I so loved, but my sister and brother would have forsaken until the next meal, taught me so many life lessons.  Equally, my father’s famous gumbo, and catfish and grits also instilled in me foundational skills to create fantastic creole creations--not a meal was lost on me.

My sister was the gourmet cook; oh, how she loved the French Chef--Julia Child, who was my introduction to the first TV chef.  We often gathered in the family “back room” to watch her on TV as my sister, Micah, conjured up the recipes at which she would try her hand, and those she learned in Home Economics at school.  I, on the other hand, would make pizzas from scratch, caramel corn, and other “everyday” creations.  We even doctored up Mama Celeste and Chef Boyardee Pizzas.  For us, cooking was innate!  You just knew how to do it because you grew up in the kitchen and that’s how you know to make a meal just right with that extra “je ne sais quoi”.  But, for those of you who think you can’t do it, you may just need a little guidance, and that is what Wine & Dine with Glo is all about.

During my travels to France, Spain, Italy, and across the U.S., I have had many teachings about food and wine that will help you along your journey for having an appreciation of different cultures and their staples. I want to share it with you.  I hope you enjoy this website, my gluten free meals and spin on oldies but goodies, and even newbies.  Bon appetite, and a votre sante!
